Recovery from Abuse and Assault

Whether it happened recently or in childhood, the violation that occurs in abusive relationships or from sexual abuse or assault, can leave profound wounds, damaging our sense of self and self esteem, and fundamentally undermining our ability to feel safe and belong in the world.

If you have experienced abusive relationships or assault, I offer sensitive support to help you come to terms with what has happened, heal and move on.

I have worked in private practice with clients who have experienced abuse for the last ten years. I’m an accredited member of the National Society for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of practice and ethics. I bring various effective approaches to the work to help you rebuild a sense of safety and to process trauma (if you choose to do so) in a contained and manageable way.

Free Introductory Meeting

If you’re thinking about coming for therapy, I offer a free, no-obligation meeting of up to half an hour (in person or online) to give you a chance to ask any questions and see whether you think we would be a good fit. Contact me to arrange this.

Costs and Practicalities

Sessions are either in-person or online. If we are meeting in person, we will work in a quiet and private dedicated studio at my home. Online sessions are held on Zoom.

Free Trial Session

I offer a free initial half-hour consultation with no obligation to help you see if you feel we are a good fit.

When I first met Marcus I was in a traumatised state from sexual abuse when I was a child. I spent a year in therapy with him and every Tuesday was one more step towards healing. He always made me feel safe and let me set the pace. In the midst of the worst state of anguish he also had the uncanny ability to lighten the intensity and sometimes, surprisingly, could make me laugh before I left the session.

He walked alongside me in ways that surprised and encouraged me. Most of all, he is very sensitive and challenged me to be my most courageous self — but ‘held my hand’ when I felt unable to do it alone.
